Donkey Boy (USA)
Donkey Boy (USA) is a songwriting moniker for a lifelong musical itch that started with 9 years of piano lessons. Now, it involves many friends around the N. Illinois area I’ve helped with design & illustration stuff over the years. They’ve gathered in support to see a couple shoeboxes full of songs written and recorded on tape recorders kept hidden to most for the past 14 years see the light of day. Technically they go by “& The Anthony Graigs.” Donkey Boy (USA) & The Anthony Graigs have many songs in many guises to sift through and deliver, hammer of the gods of nothing style. The ‘Graigs’ at the present moment are: band manager, Zach Staas-uhnator (Joie de Vivre), slowhand Daniel J. McMahon (Cameron McGill’s Army, Miles Nielsen’s Friends, an ‘original’ Wandering Son, Hayward Williams), plus Edmundo the magician, Mark Muraski (Snaggs, Golden Rocket, HMS, Edmundo’s Ice Cream and Parlor.).
Stu Johnson (as well as his band, The Pimps, and Sons of Many Bitches) is our latest supporter and will be participating in the final production of songs for our own full-length due in 2012 or 13. His own band will be releasing a version of dBUSA’s song, “I.M. America”, on their 2010 full-length.
Kevin Schwitters (The Braves, Table and Chairs, Haunted Hayrides) and I have been talking about a collaboration for 12 years. Last winter we tried- however I failed to leave the house to do anything for the past 18 months. Recession put music on hold. Kevin is an honorary Graig until our schedules, my moods, clock and a’Merica align.
